Vela supernova-remnant in X-ray (above: AHT 1996) and in H alpha (below: Royal Obs. Edinburg in CA 1994). Green arrows project the areas of the highest X-ray intensity (white) into the bubbles visible in the hydrogen picture. The cause of these bubbles seems to be the electric repulsion which is symbolized by white stars and white arrows on the border of the second highest X-ray intensity shown in red. The clear observable filament-structure (seen below) is not explained through a pure thermal explosion.
